My break in Tampere came to an end, thus I went off to Helsinki. It was only a three days ride, but even in such short time things can happen. Luckily, I’m talking about nice unforeseen things! One morning, it was about 8 o’clock, there was music playing. It came closer and closer to my sleeping area, until two young Fins turned around the corner. They were looking to have a barbecue, when they found me sleeping next to a fire place inside a frisbee golf park. Frisbee golf seems very popular in Finland, by the way.
They apologized for waking me up, but everything was alright. I actually enjoyed the company, and the four sausages for breakfast. Aleksi and Max even let me have the other 3 packages of sausage they bought, so I had a lot of barbecues the following days.

When arriving in Helsinki, Steffi and Alex offered to host me. I met them some time ago south of Stockholm, all three of us cycling, and already at that time they invited me to Helsinki. So I stayed four days, replacing both of my chainrings on Monday and just looking around town the following days. My personal highlight was the Sompa Sauna. Four saunas in different trailers, which are located next to the ocean. The sauna is public, so I’ve met couple of fins and even two other Germans. Nice as well were some cafés, where the birds seemingly lost all shyness, just to get a bite of the delicious cake.

On Thursday, I took the ferry to get across the pond to Tallinn. The visa for Russia would have taken too long, but I think it’s time to travel south and not experience the harsh winter.

Thanks to Alex and Steffies Pizza love, they met Germans in Tallinn, who I then had contacted. It was a pleasure staying with Björn and Louise, having a swim and yet another sauna together. I also have to admit that the city of Tallinn, especially the old town, caught me by surprise. It was so beautiful!

Now, im having dinner at the Estonian coast, eating some cheese i was given for free in Helsinki. Sitting by the ocean, listening to the waves and enjoying being on the road again! I still cannot believe how far I’ve already cycled and have to remind myself, what huge of a present everyday on the road is. So thank you all for being here and having this journey together with me :)
