Here you can see my first pair of sporty sunglasses ever, given to me by Andi (my mother‘s partner) minutes before my departure. They did come in handy since, well, the sun was shining a lot. They were pretty comfortable, I really enjoyed wearing them. Unfortunately, they got lost on the third day on a bumpy downhill trail. They hung loosely around some wires on my handlebar, so I didn’t notice their absence right away. But when I noticed that they were gone, I was sad. I tried to cheer me up: „Luckily you‘ve got your regular pair with you. It‘s not that bad.“

But as you can see, my regular sunglasses just didn’t do it when it comes to cycling. Now knowing what a pair of glasses made for cycling feel like, I knew what immense comfort I had lost. On my way, I tried out some alternatives:

A pair of swimming glasses, looks odd, and feels the same way. Why did I even pick them again? Now could‘ve been their time to shine, but I wasn‘t desperate enough to go for those. Still I wanted to replace the glasses I have lost, and in Hamburg was the right time to go shopping :)
My shifting and gear system needed a little service anyway, so I made my way to the Rad Race Shop near the fishmarket. Not only were the guys super helpful and friendly, but they had some nice sunglasses in store, as well.
Since I wanted to get some I tried on a few different models and had a favorite pair immediately. But it the time to buy those hasn‘t come just yet - I wanted to let some days pass to see, if I still wanted this particular one, or if some cheaper pair would do the trick. Of course I didn’t change my mind, but it was quite a good experience to wait a couple of days before buying something. Especially if you end up not using or needing this thing in the end. If that’s the case, waiting some days saves precious money, or time, if you’d have to return the item otherwise :)

They‘ll do!

The swimming goggles look rather cool, too 😂 May the sun shine on you!
